About my creative process...

My creative process involves what I have termed informed intuition ; the interaction of my conscious and unconscious self. This recapitulates my experience as a life-long artist, in that artistic creativity involves living and working at the borderlines of the rational and mythopoetic. This transcendent place of edgeness requires the artist to incorporate aspects of body, mind and spirit as she gives voice to creative urges. I have found this liminal realm to embrace the unknown, the irrational and the mythopoetic. This blended approach strongly embraces intuition and the ambiguities that are forever a part of life, while simultaneously acknowledging the importance of rationality, resulting in artistic reflections of our increasingly pluralistic existence.

About my artwork...

Found within my artwork are elements of myth, ritual, archetypal imagery, and contemporary culture as symbolic references, which are integrated with my life experiences. Intertwined are the many readings I do as exploration and ritual, my intuition, and my spiritual inclination. Thus, art making for me is a transformative process, embracing the archetypal in a highly personal and contemporary context. These connections become dialogues that involve my inner and outer self, the quality of my experiences, and the community of which I am a member. By extension, my artwork engages the world around me as mediations and sites for correspondence and collaboration.
